All gas is unleaded at gas stations. What has to be watched is the octane level. If the vehicle is designed to run on 87 octane (regular), 89 octane (mid-grade) can cause problems with the sensors in the long run and will burn less efficiently..

All gasoline grades are now unleaded. In 1995 the EPA phased out the sales of leaded gas since the emissions from that type of fuel produced more toxic emissions and polluted the air.
The measure of octane (87, 89,93) coincides with the level of engine knock in your car.
Most cars now do not need high octane unless you're driving a high end sports car or an older classic car. Don't waste your money on even the mid-grade octane since if you're car is routinely serviced, you should have no problems.

mid grade gas is unleaded gas. All the gas you get at the pumps are unleaded gas except diesel in which case if you vehicle required that it would say diesel only. Mid grade gas is just more expensive because the octane is hire. It is not better or worse for your car just some cars preform better on hire octane gas but lower octane won't hurt it. Your owners manual will tell you what octane your car runs best on.

All three grades are unleaded. Just don't put diesel into your car.
If you have a car that needs 87, and you think you are being "good" to your car by putting premium in it you aren't you are wasting your money.
The higher grade gasoline is ONLY required if your owners manual says so. So if it says 87, your off the hook!
For instance I drive a Ford Taurus (Sedan), it needs 87.
My mom drives a Ford Probe (Sports Car) it needs 92.
I could put the higher grade in my car. I CANNOT put the cheaper grade in hers.
I hope that makes sense.

All gas is unleaded. Mid grade is 'better', if you mean you are putting the more expensive stuff.

All gasoline sold in the US is unleaded only these days, so you don't have to worry on that account.
Check your car's manual to see what grade of gasoline your car needs. Some cars actually need the lower grade for some reason...

crash route in octane.... The octane volume you spot on the pumps does no longer propose the better that's the added perfect your automobile performs. The octane volume is the gasolines resistance to detonation or pre-ignition. meaning the gasoline explodes in the previous the spark is going off, that's many times referred to as engine knock or ping and its very volatile to an engine. maximum autos run on 87 octane, some require larger octane. The autos that want accurate cost have had the timing advanced to get extra performance out of the engine. in case you ran 87 in automobile that certain ninety 3, you ought to get detonation or engine knock. maximum autos in the present day have whats referred to as a knock sensor which will retard the timing even as knock is detected, yet you lose performance and gasoline mileage. also operating commonplace in automobile that needs accurate cost for a lengthy era of time can nevertheless harm the engine, in spite of a knock sensor. Detonation by no potential is going away thoroughly because the computer will attempt to placed the timing decrease back to what it may well be and the cycle will commence all once extra. ok on to the answer on your question about octane develop, , octane develop is a waste of money for 2 causes. First, maximum octane boosters in ordinary words boost it a pair factors. There are ten factors for each octane volume, study the decrease back of the bottles, they say what number factors they are going to boost octane, no longer octane numbers. second, with a automobile that runs on ninety one you have not any actual reason develop the octane in case you position accurate cost in already, it does no longer make it swifter, it extremely is why maximum individuals purchase this stuff.

if your car calls for unleaded, then putting in a higher grade will do nothing for you....however, if your car calls for premium putting in a lower grade could cause problems with the motor.

all gasoline sold in the U.S. in all grades (except diesel) is unleaded. You are wasting your $$ putting in mid-grade unless your car requires the octane boost
