you have to look to the independent artists and bands to find meaning. Death Cab For Cutie started out as an indie band, now they are on a big label but Ben Gibbard (the singer/songwriter of the band) uses really interesting concepts for his songs. Even if you don't like their style of music, the lyrics are something to pay attention to.
As far as other bands go, sometimes the meaning and the work really go into the instruments rather than the words. Meaning can be found in simple sentences.

Wow, I don't think you are listening very close then. Have you heard "Hate Me Today"by Blue October? That's a good example of a modern song that has a lot of meaning behind the words.
Or how about Natashia Bedingfield's "Unwritten"? This is a song that speaks to the fact that we are in control of our own lives. I think there is a lot of great independant musicians out there too who write really meaningful songs. You might go check out myspace.com music and see some of the unsigned artists.

Time is changing the people. And the people are changing their life.Music is part of people's life,so it gotta change.Today, the lyrics are less in a song:P(de gustibus non disputandum)if u know what i mean...But not all the lyrics doesn't have a meaning behind words. If U like good music,U will find songs with creative lyrics:DI'm from Romania, and believe me,In here, the music is worse.:P.And don't forget:without changes, the world stops.

That may be true. There are NO meaningful lyrics in Rap/Hip-Hop music, but every once in a while you can come across a good rock song. Most people have stopped listening to the words! Good thing there are people like you and me that still care!

There is not just a lack of creative music, its practically non-existent. No wonder the oldies are gold. Now thats what you call good music.

No longer can you turn on MTV and find great new music. (remember those days when you could....Nirvana, Pearl Jam etc) If you want to find good music these days you really have to search hard. Anyone who looks good enough can get a record deal because we have technology now to make you sound decent on record (ex. Ashley Simpson). www.jambase.com for real music.

I listen to old stuff and a lot of indie. Since music that's on the airwaves now, is trash.

i think there is a lack of creative lyrics in todays music cause like every 5 seconds they say the same thing.almost every song or band i listin to there's swearing.its almost as if thats all people know how to do these days i will give you a few examples here:
Oh, well imagine; as I'm pacing the pews in a church corridor,
and I can't help but to hear, no I can't help but to hear an exchanging of words:
"What a beautiful wedding, what a beautiful wedding!" says a bridesmaid to a waiter.
"Yes, but what a shame, what a shame, the poor groom's bride is a whore."
I'd chime in with a "Haven't you people ever heard of closing a goddamn door?!"
No, it's much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of poise and rationality
I'd chime in with a "Haven't you people ever heard of closing a goddamn door?!"
No, it's much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of poise and rationality
Well in fact well i'll look at it this way,
I mean technically our marriage is saved!
Well this calls for a toast, so pour the champagne!
Oh! Well in fact well i'll look at it this way,

Again.

its in almost every line they say the same exact thing.hmm i dont even think they want a meaning they do it cause of teenagers these days now im 14 but i listen to mostly christian music where there is a meaning cause it telling bout god and how much he loves you. but thats me im not trying to push reliogn down your thoart or anyone elses but i prefer it much more sometimes i do listen to this but its rare for me to.but this is all what i think okay well thats all i got. bu bye
