Glen Beck is awesome because he speaks his mind. Also, he doesn't let a political affiliation stand in the way of doing this.
He is a down to earth guy with down to earth problems.
I saw his show when he was in Pittsburgh for his Midlife Crisis Tour and it was great. The first half was jokes and fun then the second was serious. I think he had the whole place crying in the end. He was just talking about his life and family and how proud he is of them. It was amazing. I recommend seeing him if you have the chance.

Because like many polemicists today he likes to group a bunch of people together (a.k.a. "liberals") and then points out contradictions that apparently afflict about half the population (such as "Why do liberals defend the freedoms of Muslims but Christians can't have the Ten Commandments displayed at their courthouse?"). This is of course a ridiculous way of arguing about things, because it ignores the complexity of the issues that trouble us today. Thus he appears to "own" people when really he's done nothing and said nothing the least bit insightful. It's not just Glenn Beck of course, but Ann Coulter, Bill Maher, and many other people. That's why he's so cool, or at least appears that way to you.

Because he said on his show that he hates the victims of Hurrican Katrina more than he hates the victims of September 11. He's so cool! I love people who hate disaster victims!
