It would depend on what strategy Federer uses. At Wimbledon, the bounces stayed low enough so that Nadal's heavy top spin to Federer's backhand didn't force Federer to hit high backhands.
But in the victories Nadal had over Federer this year (on clay and hard courts), the heavy top spin made Federer hit a lot of high backhands and was a big factor as to why Federer lost those close matches. At the Italian Open final, Federer almost pulled off a victory by attacking the net a lot. So if Nadal is able to hit that heavy top spin forehand to Federer's backhand and Federer doesn't attack the net to counteract this, Nadal will probably come out on top. If Federer attacks the net, he has a decent shot at beating Nadal.

Who is the number 1 tennis player in the world who is capable of winning on all surfaces? The only advantage here is Federer is the better player. He's got a better chance of beating Nadal on Clay than Nadal has beating Federer on the grass and this will get proven. Despite this, Nadal has a bright future in the game and may someday be able to compete with Roger on the big stage. We'll see.

I think it will be very close match to call. I watch the finals of French Open and Wimbelen and they both were great matches. I am hoping that will be the finals for the U.S. Open also.
I think if Nadal keeps going the way he is playing , he will be awesome down the road. Nadal could learn alot from Federer.

It'd be close. If they were both playing at 100% physically and mentally, I'd say Feds. Nadal doesn't have quite as much experience on hard courts. Of course, that's Nadal of last year. Nadal this year is an entirely different story.
Let's put it this way...it'd be a great, competitive match. I hope they meet at the US Open this year.

I think Nadal because he has beaten Federer on hardcourt and his win loss against federer is 6-2, so he has the edge. Federer cant handle all Nadal's brute power

I would give the edge to Federer, especially coming off his win in Wimby. But they are both capable of beating one another, as they've demonstrated this year. They are both oozing with talent, and their contrasting styles match up well. In the end, mental toughness might have more to do with it than talent on a neutral surface.

Federer. I wouldn't say he has more talent, but Nadal hasn't developed yet. Nadal needs more experience.

Federer. Nadal only has a distinct clay advantage. RF is well balanced.
