Well, considering you have to pay for it...

If you want free WiFi head to select McDonalds locations or Panera Bread, http://www.panerabread.com/locations.aspx?WiFi=1

The StarBucks locations where I live, charge for it and I simply refuse to pay for it when there is a Panera Bread not two miles away.

Starbucks would not get mad at you because Starbucks charges for thier wireless access, so you would be a paying customer. They have a front end menu that will require an access code and not let you get passed it until you enter it. If you don't have to pay for the access then the Starbucks is not using the corporate wireless system.

I don't think it's illegal unless Star buck's has a restraining order against you! LOL But it is their right to kick you out if they want to. Just buy a grande and that should last you a while so you can use the Internet without angering them.

Its called a "hotspot". They have that wireless connection for their customers. You can use their connection...its a service from starbucks for their customers.

If you just sit there and not order anything and use their connection, its considered rude, but its not illegal.

As Starbucks offers this as a service to their customers, they have every right to ask you to leave if you are not buying their product.
