Yep, run ads and also read ads in the musical instrument section of the classifieds, or some classifieds have a musicians wanted/for hire section.
If you lived in a larger town, or near a larger town, you can type in the name of the town followed by the word musician, like "www.portlandmusician.com" to find listings by musicians in your area.
Another good way is to put up flyers in music stores, since musicians go there a lot.

well Autumn, You can try the newspaper thing, But I found the best way is to go and check out other bands in your area. Really see what its like out there for working bands. Talk to other Musicians, You ll find the rs a vast world of difference and everyone has their own idea of whats good and bad. Usually you can always find a group looking for a vocalist too. You re a hot commodity, Vocalists are the heart of any band and the reason most people go to see one. Dont be afraid of being picky about who you play with, And hey just follow your dream.

Put an ad in the paper. When people respond to your ad, meet up with them and see if they are good and you like the same kind of music. That way also you can kind of set your goals about exactly how far you want the band's future to go. An everybody is on the same sheet of music if you know what I mean. That's what I did. Or you can move to Topeka Kansas because we are thinking about getting a different singer.

OK Chick,
Where du live and girl if u want 2 be in a country band... that's gonna b REALLY hard 2 find because most bands are death metal, alternative rock, and a little r&b so ur almost outta luck there. Gather up friends that can actually play an instrument, like rock, and
have a life.

Myspace is always an option. If there are a lot of country music lovers in your area you can advertise in the newspaper or on a local college bulletin board.
