Also, i'd like to know how people know the temp/C02 content for 650,000 YEARS AGO!?

They believe it because Al Gore "invented" the Internet..

Al Gore's schizophrenic junk science has a lot of idiots buffaloed and has not basis in fact. Michael Crichton has piece of fiction called "State of Fear" which is far more accurate.

People often look for "convenient answers" (pardon the pun)
The earth's climate is influenced for the most part by normal solar apogee and perigee cycles, these cycles take approximately 180,000 years.. We are currently in a portion of the cycle where the climate is warming because of our proximity to the sun in our normal orbit.
Functional warming exists in areas with higher population but on the whole the planet is doing what is has been doing for 4.6 billion years unabated.

The Global Warming crap for the most part is driven by global leftists to instill fear in the masses, to control behavior leftists will use any means necessary what better then a baby seal to tug at a persons sense of fairness??

I was at a conference where a belgian proffesor had a presentaton about global warming. He studied the global Earth temperature in the last 1,000 years or so, by studying rock layers. Until middle 1700s', when the steam engine was developed, the mean temperature of Earth was falling, meaning that another Ice Age comes, since the last one was aprox. 10,000 years ago and the Ice Ages have a cycle of 10,000 (don't take it exactly, it's just an aproximation). He was covering with a sheet of paper the last part of the graph. When he revealed the 1700-2000 period, all the audience was shocked, and a "Whoaa" could be heard in the room. I was literary scared: the graph was going strainght up, much, much higher than initial value from year 1,000. In 300 years, the global temperature rises by a factor of five or more (I don't know the axis unit, but the graph climb was really high). We really managed to screw up the Earth climate, by practicly erasing the next Ice Age. Is this a good thing? I don't think so, messing arround with Earth's climate balance...

Wrong.

CO2 is 30% higher than it has been for 650,000 years
Look at the 'hockeystick'.
(see links below)

How's that for proof? There is ample proof, any real scientist will tell you that.

There has NEVER been an article doubting man's influence on global warming published in a peer-reviewed journal.

Yes, the earth naturally heats and cools, but the rate and amount we are warming now is unprecedented in the recent geologic past. We are doing this, and we must stop it. This is not some political statement or rhetoric. This is science trying to educate a crass, ignorant public of the damage they are doing. The magnitude of temperature increase ALREADY is about 10x that of the 'little ice age' of the middle ages, and rate and amount are only going up.

There is no proof of it !!! Are you kidding? The natural variations you are talking about are not of the magnitude the Global Warming effects will have. You may still think that it is a hoax and that you can keep not recycling and using your big Suburbans and Hummers and keep thinking oh someone will think of something. Many smart people have been trying to awaken the collective conscience to environmental problems such as David Suzuki and Hubert Reeves. Interesting fact, David Suzuki has about 1 bag of trash per month. How many bags of trash do you have? Is Global Warming real? Oh my god, now I know why we need more & more talks about Global Warming. Ever heard of the hole in the Ozone Layer? Is that part of Earth's natural cycle, making a whole in the protective barrier that prevents all the people of this planet from dying of diverse forms of skin cancer and other diseases. Feel free to look up melting ice caps, Ozone Layer Hole and Global Warming to get a bit of social conscience.

Well, I want to know how people can think that all the industry and chemicals being absorbed into our atmosphere has no causal effect whatsoever. Everything we do, and we have done A LOT in the past 150 years, has an effect, everything that has an effect has some short term and some long term effects.
They are not disputing that the earth has warm cycles.
You have a common misunderstanding of the what they are worried about.
They are trying to tell us that mass industry has brought a natural occurance on stronger and faster.

The Earth naturally goes through phases of heating and cooling, yes.

I believe that people start to panic when they feel the additional chemical reactions that humans produce from technology are affecting that rate of change. Many people start to think they can 'undo' or affect the natural changes. In truth, the effect that we have on the planet is quite small, and Earth conditions will fluctuate, sometimes with great speed, whether we were here or not. It is not my place to judge, so I cannot say these people's efforts are wrong - and it is not entirely negative when they merely ask us to work together for a purpose..

Personally, I believe both our negative effects and efforts to 'preserve' the Earth's conditions will have minimal impact either way...

There is plenty of proof, but a certain class of politicians, for political reasons, refuses to read the science. So they've been lying to you.

Yes, the earth goes through natural cool and warm phases. But the earth is now warmer than at any time in human history.

Atmospheric CO2 from 650,000 years ago can be determined by looking at ice cores from antarctica. When snow falls, it traps bubbles of air that are in the atmosphere at the time the snow fell. In deep ice cores you can count the annual layers of snowfall to determine the age, and can analyze the trapped air to determine the CO2 content.

There are other ways to determine ancient temperatures too, such as corals; see the links below for further info.

The temperature at the time of snowfall can be determined by analyzing the ratio of O16 to O15 in the water itself.

Here's some of the scientific evidence that some politicians don't want you to read:

Because some people believe anything the stupid Democrats will tell them. In the 1970's everyone was yelling ice age! We were going to have another ice age because all of the pollution we were putting into the air was creating smog and the smog was going to block out the suns rays and we were going to have another ice age. WELL??? WHERE THE HECK IS OUR ICE AGE???? Now the same democratic idiots who yelled ice age are yelling global warming. Twenty years from now they'll be yelling ice age again. Gore should be locked up in prison along with the Clintons.

Global warming probably is real. That's just based on physical evidence of the last ice age. The controversy is about: a) whether or not this will lead to catastrophe, b) whether or not people are causing it, and c) whether or not we can do anything about it.

ANSWERS:
a) Who knows, the environment is too complex to predict
b) Very little if at all
c) See answer "B"

All I have to say is Jenny needs to get a life and pick up a science book. Because she ovbiously needs to learn a little bit more. There is a big problem with global warming that smog that she is talking about is what is killing our ozone layer. Which in turn is warming up our globe. Hense, Global Warming.

because there is global warming, idiot! And the proof is that the temperature of the entire earth is rising. The heating and cooling you are refering to is just weather patterns and seasons.
