Sorry Vincent, I had a lil hypothesis going in my head going while I was typing the question. I think you and most others will catch on to it soon enough.

I used quotes only to draw attention ... that's it not yet legalized. Many participants of yahoo Q and A know I'm expressed my views quite explicitly about this matter.

Thanks for all the participation.

I am agnostic, and I am not for or against gay marriage. I am against government controlling peoples private lives. If they can't tell women what to do with their uterus-es, then how can they tell people what to do about their emotions. If the religious sect doesn't want to practice or honor gay marriage, then don't. If others want to, then do. Morals are up to the discretion of the user.

No - I'm not against "gay marriage" (no need for the quotes BTW). What my issue is though is with the opposition and their need to have the debate about how gay marriage is threatening straight marriage. It's like.. HOW? If you're already married, how is two other people threatening you? Not only that, but why should people care more about what's happening behind other people's doors than the homeless people who are out on our streets or the children and other people who have no access to health care. The whole issue is a non-issue and it pisses me off how politicians want to divert attention away from their shortcomings.

My 2 cents.

Frankly, I think that marriage of any sort is an archaic ritual without a place in the modern world. Then again, there's a lot of things like that. Marriage may not be for me, but I realize that it's something that means a lot to many, many people.

It's the twenty-first century, and the fact that we deny this right to gay people will be looked back upon shamefully in fifty years. We will seem as intolerant and prejudiced as the people who opposed interracial marriage in our recent past.

I think you'll find that almost all of us atheists come out in favor of gay marriage, even if marriage, itself, seems a little goofy to us.

But, then again, I'm about to go spend the month of August in Provincetown. Maybe spending my formative summers on the Cape have lead me to be a little more tolerant than most.

I want to believe in God. I go to church occasionally, I am a straight married female. Not 'against' gay marriage. Have friends and employer that are gay. Marriage is a 'commitment/vow between TWO PEOPLE, not my decision or business. The same if I did not like a straight friends spouse..( I'm not the one that has to live with the other person.) So do what makes you happy.

I am an agnostic straight person. I believe gay marriage should be allowed. There is enough hate in the world, why can't we allow two people, whatever gender, who love each other to be married. It's not like gay people can screw up the "sanctity" of marriage any more than us straights can!!!!

I'm an agnostic. Religion shouldn't have anything to do w/ marriage anyway, it's a civil thing.

I have no problem with allowing two humans who love each other to get married. Gay or straight.

Hee hee! I love pirate wench's "gay people are people too" !! Classic!
I've no problem with it, and read the answers to see if anyone did, it doesn't seem so. The only argument I've ever heard against gay marriage was (unfortunately) from a relative of mine who said "It devalues my marriage" again classic! What can you do!!? (and that woman was separated from her errant husband for 20 years!!)

I think the entire marriage thing needs to be sorted out for all people, straight, gay, religious or not. Marriage is a joke these days.

Gay marriage and Gay rights have nothing to do with religion, but rather Human Rights. If they are human, they deserve the same rights as others.

Definately for it!!! People should have the right to do as they please. Whatever makes them happy as long as it's not something as extreme as killing someone. Being against gays is part of a religion and in no way should be made into a law. Bush is a horrible president and is trying to shove his religion on the country.
