Hi guys, I'm trying to install the IIS to do my ASP, but having problems with it. My pc is running on XP Professional, The cd i used to install the IIS is a recovery cd tho. The IIS is successfully installed in my pc, But i can't locate the Internet Information Services in the Admin Tools. And when i try 2 run an asp file(saved in a folder which i have created in the wwwroot), it says connection refused. And it gives me an error when i try 2 create an asp web application, saying that not web services is installed. I'm at my wits end, could it be that i should not use a recoovery cd? Hope i get an ans soon.. Thx in advance!!!

It does not sound to me like you do have IIS installed on the system. You want the standard Windows XP Professional Edition in the CD tray.

Then go into Control Panel / Add Remove Programs / Add Remove Windows components, and make sure "Internet Information Services" is completely deselected. Uninstall it all.

Reboot, and then go into Control Panel / Add Remove Programs / Add Remove Windows components, and click over top of "Internet Information Services" til it is highlited. Click "Details" and turn on all the sub-services except for FTP.

Click OK.

Click "Next"

Reboot.

Should be all you need to do.

Try typing http://localhost:8080 at the Browser to check that IIS is really successfully installed. If not try installing it again. from Add Remove Windows Components from Control Panel. This works most of the time. Best of Luck.
