Fruits basket- This is so far my favorite. It would be even better if i liekd the main pairing but oh well it still rocks. Everything is drawn so well. The characters are so realistic that you just love them. The plot is awesome it is really good! Lots of romance, drama and humor

Hana Kimi- really cute love story filled with drama and humor. I just adore this! The characters are beautiful as well.

Princess Ai- very lovely story though the end leaves you hanging. The plot is filled with romance and action. It is so interesting. I finished the 3 volumes in 1 day cuz i couldn't stop.

Some great answers already - I'll relist a few as my favorites.

I'd recommend The Crow, Elfquest, Preacher, Sin City, V for Vendetta, The Watchmen, Cerebus, Bone, Dawn, Sandman, and a few others that escape me at the moment.

All are great reads.

God Loves, Man Kills. This was the first graphic novel featuring the X-men. This book was so powerful, it is what they based the movie X2: X-men United on. Take away the military, add in christian extremists, and you have an epic story far more brutal and scary than the movie.

"Maus" by Art Spiegelman. It's about the Holocaust so it's a bit "heavy," but it's a wonderful read and great for people who may doubt the aesthetic quality of graphic novels.

"Nexus" by Mike Baron and Steve Rude. There are several trade paperbacks out there, and Dark Horse is (slowly) reprinting the entire series in hardcover with the second volume coming out soon. It was a terrific series in the '80s and '90s, and is still one of the best.

"Zot" by Scott McCloud. Just buy it. You won't be sorry.

elfquest. great novel about elves that are half wolf. they r the wolfriders and they became that way cause the high ones came to the earth and timmain who was a shapeshifter took on the shape of a wolf to hunt for food. she stayed this way for too long and was stuck in the body of a wolf. she became feral and mated with a real wolf and thus the first wolfrider was born. the authors names are pini, i forget their first names.
