So I've read quite a few times that Zidane should be admired for standing up for his values etc etc

But I ask you have any of you been racially insulted?

Because I have and trust me I would have loved to give the several ignorant people out there who have insulted me a huge slap but you can't. You just can't.

In fact I don't think Zidane should be commended for his violence, I think that is just the wrong message and attitude. If everyone did what he did the world would be in chaos

Look at what has already happened in the name of self-rightousness and religion.

I know I'm going off on a tangent and getting off topic but seriously, if you have not been insulted racially before I don't think you are one to comment.

I am black living in Canada, married an Italian and see it quite often but not blatantly very often. It's the ones who do it slyly, never to your face, or with words that are the worse. Also a lot of people use racism as a cop out,as for example at my job a black person told me I had a problem with black people when he didn't get his demands . Okay what the heck was that, I am black and they are black so how do I have a problem with black people, this person uses that excuse so much that he now uses it for everything before thinking who he is using at and why.

As for Zidane, beyond what he "should" or "should not" have done, it's kinda stupid to go after some guy in one of the two most important games of your life, when you know the game's going to end in about 15 minutes or so. Just headbutt him after the game if you really feel like it.

To your general question, yes I've been insulted before because I have white skin. Since it's apparently ok for a non- white to make racial epithets at whites, I'm supposed to say it's all right. But I won't.

This is a narrow minded opinion. You can't judge a whole nation just by a few ignorant individuals!!!! I wouldn't say I hate the entire German nation because of Hitler, and I am Jewish! I wonder what nationality you are, most probably Italian. I have been to Italy, love the people and the country but now I am changing my mind when I read all the mean things said by the Italians here.

So do I have the right to say "I hate Italians' just because there are some mean Italians hanging around in this forum??

I am not French but I lived there for 6 months during my high school days and some people are nice, and some people are not, just like anywhere else in the world.

So please, open your mind!!!

i have been a minority wherever i live my whole entire life and I have had bad experiences regarding race. i feel angry and frustrated at times because of it. However, zidane's action is wrong. he won't solve any problem, in fact he's just gonna make it worse and his teammates were the first victims. I understand that he's only human and he was very emotional. It is just sad just to see a great player like him ended his career on such a bad note. Racial problem is like a cancer in our society. it will take a very long time to find a solution for it. the only thing that we can do is to respect each other and celebrate the diversity.

I'm an Asian American so this is not news to me .

Recism comments or insults happen everyday and everywhere , that doesn't give us a right to beat someone up or heatbutting them .

Can you imagine what would happens in the States if everyone decided to re-act that way ? I guess we are going to have Hispanic American, Italian American, Asian American, etc.. fight each others every minutes .

Each time that someone on Yahoo Answers trashes the Italian nation calling us "Mussolini" or "Mafia" or "corrupts" I'm racially insulted.

So, yes.

I'm an Italian living in the US.

I've been called a racist by a black person, which I'm not... I'm hispanic and my bf is black, so I'm definately not racist... And also, because I am hispanic, and have a slight accent, non-hispanics have treated me as if I don't speak any english... I was born and raised in the USA, I have a slight accent because I speak a lot of spanish... People can be soo ignorant, and need to open their minds...

im italian, and people use steriotypes alot. for ex. one soccer player was excused of making a racist comment( which still has been denied by him) and sudenlly everybody assumes all italians are racist people. same with every country, 1 person of a certain race does something and that makes everybody of that race the same thing. People need to stop judging people based on their culture
