Are there any rap artists who write thier own lyrics? if so are any of the lryics meanful? I tried to listen to new rap and all the talked about was rims, money, and jewlery. I don't get it. Rap died with Tupac and Biggie.

I remember listening to Tupac and really feeling it, now I feel like an idiot rolling down the street blasting my stereo listening to a guy sing about rims and "apple bottoms".

Maybe I should switch to country music.

that's in my books. in my opinion, the in basic terms rap/ hip-hop artist I ever beloved became Tupac.nicely, I type of agree, elementary and Lupe Fiasco are all excellent. i love "Jesus Walks" by Kanye West. No offense, yet i do not imagine rap is lack of life. i imagine the authentic song is what's lack of life out. even as Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Lee Hooker, the great Bopper, Elvis, 1/2 of the Beatles, and many different artists died, this is even as song died. i imagine company u . s . a . of america ruined song for solid. Synthesized beats, lyrics that make the most women human beings, talk about drugs, and violence ain't my difficulty, guy. The day I listen a rap song w/ actually musical units and respectable lyrics, i am going to take decrease back what I reported. word: i do not imagine that's trustworthy that there are musicians who spend hours preparation their instuments, and placed their heart and soul into their songs, and they receives a fee so little, compared to those Hip-Hoppers who make the most women human beings, and use drugs and stuff, who receives a fee thousands and thousands! All they're are creations from their record manufacturers, surely.

I can't deny that pac and biggie were the realiest rappers ever in the game......but that dosen't mean that there aren't others who are talented and can write their own lyrics as well....*by the way u said that rappers these days are rappin 'bout hoes and money....pac and biggie were also rappin 'bout that though*.And u asked that iz rap dead or not... no i don't think so but we can say that it became way worser than before......and i well tell u the name of some rappers who are still doi'n great in the game such as:Jay z,nas, common, talib kwlie, the game, kanye west,emin3m...etc.And yes they are also rappin 'bout money, hoes and respect...but thatz not all....lyrics varies 4 song 2 song...Kanye west 4 example have u listened 2 his song "Gold digger"i bet u did and it was such a great song 4rom him.Lyrics of that song suckz....as well as the rythm*but it makes u dance any way...!*other song 4 kanye west such as"Jesus walks","Never let me down"....etc the lyrics are unbelievable...u betta check them out if u still did'nit....the game as an another example....songs like "Dreamz","Hate or love it"....i bet u knew them ......okay and i will let u judge the lyrics by your self.........!Peace...!

There are a lot of good rappers out there still, some of them are just not as well known, and some people just dont like them because there not as "hard core." Like Fort Minor, is no-where as hard as like Dre, Snoop, Tupac or Biggie. But his lyrics all have a point, and are meaningful. Atmosphere and Aesop Rock are pretty good too. MC Chris and Obie Trice, there pretty good to. And Tech N9ne. You should check some of them out, tell me if you like any of em.
Hope You Find Something you like!
Country's good too! Just don't go classical lol

You have to choose who want and don't want to listen to. Kanye west is a lyrical genius like Pac was. His words are profound and meaningful. It's who you choose. Rap will never die. There will always be stories to tell.
