I never gave so-called "baby foods" to my kids at all. It's healthier to wait until they are ready for something besides breastfeeding, then giving real food instead of mush. Food is tastier and more nutritious, and isn't subject to manufacturing errors. When's the last time you heard carrots recalled?
With most of my kids, it was about 10-11 months old, but some babies are ready earlier; generally, babies are ready for food between 6 and 12 months old.

I started around 1 year old. I gave him what we eat but sometimes it has to be modified a bit. Just cut the food into small bites

I never ate baby food. My mother always took "regular" food and put it in the blender. Less sodium.

depends on its age......i started around 5-6 months. more like mushed up banannas, applesauce, mashed taters, nothing hard of course..small small pieces of french fries.. if they try to chew or mash their food with their toungue i think they can start to handle smaller portions of soft food.....
