It means the image does not exist.

The picture's source location is on the internet, and the file is no longer there.

The picture not opening, usually, means that the picture link is broken.

Allowing pop ups is not the solution; because it has nothing to do with this.

If the pictures are from a known and trusted source, you could ask your friend to resend the pictures with the thumbs folder enclosed.

Most people copy and paste from some other source and don't realize that a jpeg or gif or whatever format pic was there is in a folder that's automatically created on the comp where the source file is copied. Since they send you the "pics" without these, the links wont work.

Generallly you can right click on the image location and it will ask if you want to see the image. This was place in email engines to stop JPG viruses from infesting systems.

I believe it's becasue it's being blocked at your ISP level and has nothing to do with your local settings, if it's re-sent to you in a Zip file you shouldn't have any issues...mail programs block it becasue of phising schemes and SPAM, a picture in an e-mail can have a webpage link embedded in it, you clcik you're screwed type of thing, could be a virus, could be Adware, etc...

its not being block by ISP, ISP has nothing to do with this, make sure that you have the updated version of Java application, still you cannot see the pictures disable firewall if you have norton or macafee if you can see it for sure you need to udjust the level of security that you have.
