And... I'm talking more about design and features than I am about advertising. I have that underway.

Make your site easy to navigate and interesting looking. I would steer away from gray, gray-blue, and cream backgrounds, they are boring and people stay away from that. Don't make the print TOO big or TOO small. I would also suggest that you use people friendly vocab, and keep pictures not too busy and with captions. If there are URLs to type in, make them easy to remember, like www.bookboo.com/bookclub instead of www.bookboo.com/76Ut4##hufrbook+club=jut/hy etc....
Also, really quick, if you suggest books to read, it would be helpful to keep a list of stores that carry the book. Good Luck!

I don't think we can really help unless we know your goal in having this website. To me it looks like a ghost-story page (I just glanced quickly). What's your goal, who do you want to reach, etc? As a note, linking to _Frankenstein_ on another page probably isn't the best (and may be illegal, depending on the other page and how you use it). Find pages that are similar to what you want to create and see what they do that works and what new things you could do to make the idea work even better.

Good luck

Don't go with anything TOO flashy or over-the-top, because that will turn people away. But definitely do tell people about it. If you make business cards with your name and number and the website, you can give them to people you meet. Also, if you bump into someone and give him/her your info, just say, "And here's my website," and write it down.
