It depends upon the hospital, and the funds they have available at the time. I had both my children at the same hospital, but received different items each time.

For the first, I was given a diaper bag with some diapers, formula, and a couple bottles, as well as samples of various diaper rash ointments and wipes.

For the second, I was given all the above, but was given more of each, plus a newborn car seat. The car seat was nice, since it was the type that could be carried, and the one we had purchased was the sort that was too heavy to be easily carried.

WIth my first son, we got a diaper bag (freebie from Enfamil) with a small can of formula and some books/literature in it. They also sent us home with one of the little tshirts they put on the babies and a receiving blanket.

My second son was born two weeks early and was transferred to the NICU for an intestinal blockage. He was only in the hospital an extra day, and it wasn't life threatening, but oh my GOD...they hooked us up! Diapers and wipes to last us about a month, enough formula (Similac) to last about a month and a half, maybe two months, several spare pacifiers, several recieving blankets, a few tubes of diaper rash medicine, a few t-shirts and a diaper bag (from Enfamil) with a can of formula, a baby book, and some little toys for the baby when he was older.

NICU nurses ROCK!

It varies by hospital and depends on what freebies they were sent to give out. I had two children, a little over a year apart, and got different things with both. You usually at least get a few samples of diapers, a diaper bag with formula samples, and some wipes samples. Also, coupons and baby magazines.

It depends on the hospital. My personal experience, I was given a huge diaper bag filled w/a few diapers, wipes, a few formula bottles, toenail clippers, comb/brush, a receiving blanket. I know there's more, but it's been 5 years and I can't remember. I'm sure that you could call the nursery department at the hospital and they could tell you.

some give a diaper bag with some diapers, baby lotion, baby wash, a blanket and a hat... a little hospital shirt. a few small other things for the baby like a baby hair brush. they give the mom some things to help her, like bed mats, pads ... things like that. All hospitals are different.

Depends on the hospital. I received a diaper bag and samples of Similac and lots of breastfeeding advice. We were also able to take home diapers an infant comb for cradle cap and a few pain relief supplies for myself. Just ask the staff what they can give you for the first few days, you'll be surprised. If it has been brought to your room it will have to be thrown away if you do not use it.

My nurse tells me that I will be getting a digital thermometer, a hat, a tshirt for him, sanitary pads, alcohol wipes for the belly button, gauze, a nasal aspirator, diaper and formula samples, and maybe a diaper bag.
