What's it to you if English people want to fly the St George's Cross before, during or after a sporting event?
I don't see why it would be an issue unless you have some unreasoned and bigoted hatred of the English.
Some people may treat their country as a fair-weather friend, only showing support when they're winning... but here in England we're proud of who we are and where we live, we show support through thick and thin, through the good times and bad... like real, genuine fans... as the chant goes "I'm England till I die, yes I'm England till I die" ...so don't confuse us with a nation of lower ethics and fickle national support...
And, for your information... England got into the last eight of the World Cup. There's over 200 countries around the world that enter the varying qualifying rounds... so how does getting into the last eight count as "they lost"?!?
Not that it would matter even if we came 218th... I'm English, I'm proud of that, and if I want to fly a St George's Cross everyday of every year I will... and neither you or any other arrogant, overseas racist can stop me...

Does it matter why? We all have a right to do as we please, provided we are not hurting anyone. If English people wish to leave flags on their own property, ie,cars,I ask myself, why does it matter to anyone other than the person/people involved?Perhaps you may like to ask yourself the same question. Maybe English people feel they support their team through good AND bad times, not just as and when they feel like it!
Maybe it has nothing to do with football, perhaps they feel its time they started flying the flag for England,God knows, its about time!!!

Because we are proud to support our team. And becuase we are lazy. And becuase it will be Euro 2008 very soon ! also, half of the Americans I know drive around with flags on their cars and they have never even left the country. At least English people are likely to go to another country and possibly even in their cars !!

Patriotism. You yanks have your 'Stars and Stripes' all over the bloody place. You didn't do anything in the World Cup, didn't even make a dent in the International scene but I bet you still have your American flags flying high.

National Pride - there doesn't have to be some sporting competition on in order for people to show it!
If you ever go to Wales, you will note that loads of their cars have Welsh flag stickers on them - again national pride

just because we lost,,don't mean to say we have to remove our flags..we are proud of the English team ..even if they didn't win..and we are showing our appreciation to our team by still having the flag showing

Because we are still English?
Got IS a word .. what is your problem?
Yes there are at least some intelligent and knowledgeable people on here but I'd be surprised if they are bothered about such trivial matters

because maybe people are starting to realise that the flag comes b4 the football and they should be proud to fly it all the time
