I would (and have) choose Chester over Fragile Fred this year. While there have been some grumblings concerning Chester coming into early camps out of shape, I would still consider him a better option. Especially since I assume this is to fill out your #3 or 4 RB spot and not a starter.
Since 98, Fred's 1st year, he has had only 2 seasons where he played in all 16 games, '02 and '03. In his 1st 3 seasons, he had 2 seasons with 12+ TD's rushing. Since then he hasn't done better then 8. Not only are his hammy's waiting to pop at any moment, he is no longer a major TD threat.
Chester, however, is an unknown. He has been a career backup to Jamal Lewis. With 1600 career yards over 4 seasons, he only has 4 TD's rushing and 3 receiving. Even though Chester is only 3 1/2 years younger then Fred, Chester has no where near the wear and tear that Fred does on his tires.
If I was going by what round I would expect each to be drafted, I would say Chester in the 8th, Fred in the 9th or 10th.

Everyone knows that Fred Taylor is gonna get hurt someday in the regular season. Chester Taylor is a plain sleeper that could fit well in the Vikings' new West Coast offense. So pick Chester Taylor over Fred Taylor.

Chester is in a RBBC situation in Minnesota = not good. Chester is an unproven starting RB and has never handled a full load at the professional level. Without a decent passing attack, opposing D's will pin their ears back and clog all running lanes for any Vikings' RB.
Fred Taylor is perceived to have an injury problem. Strongly suggest anyone who gives lip to this perception look at his stats for the last 3 seasons. No real competition in Jax at his position. Plus, read the newsrelease of his arrival at mandatory camp. Guy had an amazing offseason and is is great shape. He is a proven RB at the professional level.
I'd go with Taylor all day long and am grateful for chowderheads downgrading him -> I get to take him later in my drafts for a great sleeper.
And no way is either of these guys available on the board in a 12-team draft after the 6th round.
Thanks!

CHESTER TAYLOR. Without a doubt he will be getting the bulk of the carries and plays for a decent offensive team in Minnesota. Whereas Fred Taylor is way to injury prone and age is starting to creep up on him. Plus Greg Jones will steal a lot of the goalline carries from Fred Taylor.
CHESTER TAYLOR!!!

Jacksonville might be playing Running Back by Committee this year between Fred Taylor and Greg Jones. Their second round pick, Maurice Drew is a sleeper. If he can shake his legal problems, he could end up being a very good back. He could very well take some carries too.
Go for Chester.

Chester any day. Three things. Steve Hutchinson. Tony Richardson. Brad Childress. One is an All-World lineman, another is one of the best fullbacks, and the other is a Coach who lives the West Coast Offense. They're all new to the team, and Chester isn't an injury away from another 2-3 game season.
