What would you do if the man you love told you he wanted a divorce? Where would you go? And more impotantly if you had children involved would you take them with you? This is just a thought question, it's not actually happening to me. But if it were to ever happen what would you do?

Since you are a homemaker it depends on how long you have been homemaker; how many years you have been home. If you have been home several years you will get more assistance (money and things)from the divorce court, you will qualify for all kinds of federal aid, and you will get all kinds of help educating yourself. If you are an educated person who has decided to stay home with the kids....you will be given time to find employment

if he demands the divorce, he can leave you and the children, go get legal aid that day so they can start making him pay child support, go apply for all the aid possible till you get self sufficient and apply for college grants and educate yourself (or look for a job)...

been there done that...

For the time being I am a homemaker with 2 small children, However if this were to happen to me NOW, I would go stay with my mom and get the best job I could and yes the kids would go with me...... However, to prepare myself JUST IN CASE this is ever to happen to me I plan on attending school next year when My son s in kindergarten and my other is in nursery school, not only is it a good Idea to do just in case something like this happens, but also why not get an education for the future? It will mean 2 parents with college degrees, more money that we can put away for their college funds!!! And the better off we will be financially means that when one of us has an issue such as illness or what not, we wont have to worry so much about losing that pay check!!

I'm a homemaker but I"m also a Certified Nursing Assistance , Substitute teacher Insurance agent I have a lot of experience but the best thing to do is get a education and in case he leaves you you will have something to fall back on and take your kids with you cause you can get alimony and child support so it plenty of help out there for divorce parents with kids you just have to look for them

where would he go would be a more appropiate question,,
normall if there is a breakdown and there is children involved the person who is left with the kids(normally the female) retains access to the property for the benefit of the children,,
here in scotland it is almost impossible to force the sale of a property if there is any children under sixteen staying there,
the only way the house would be sold was by mutual agreement and one side paying the other half the value of the property plus child support money,,
i hope it never happens to anyone because it leaves a very nasty taste in the mouth for the children especially and the grass is not always greener on the other side,,
lol

well during my divorce with my children's dad that was exactly the situation i was in. I did take my kids i had never worked so had no experience i was terrified. Thanks to help from my family i moved into low income apartments . Got on goof stamps and then found a job. During this time i went back to college and got a degree. It was extremely hard to deal with i recommend all housewives take a little money each week and put it aside no one should be left with nothing and no where to go it is awful.

I would give him the divorce and ask for maintenance for the children and alimony and take the children with me. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

i lived this and i kept my kids and kicked him out, he didn't want the marriage i made him walk. It is simple as that, if I was the one that wanted to leave i would of packed the kids and myself up and moved in with my parents if need be, till I got back on my feet, but I would never leave my children behind.

It happened to me and I took my babies and left him. I gave him everything and God Blessed me with a new man with all the trimmings. Now my ex is looking stupid and has not been able to settle with one girl. He tries to get me back at every turn but he doesn't have a chance.

I would be very upset. But i have lots of family support and could go to them at anytime with any problems. I would give him the space he needed and then maybe he would change his mind.
