Wonder how dirty your mouse is, Catnip Girl?

The first thing that you should do, to keep your equipment in optimal condition, is to keep it clean!

Like you have a shower and a bath every day, don't you?

[If you don't, I would rather we converse online only, since I won't be able to smell you here!?]

Well, you can start by giving your mouse a "bath". Turn the mouse upside down. Now, you should see arrow marks showing you how to screw it in. Turn it in the opposite direction and undo the lid. Take a fine clean brush and "sweep the insides clean, after you've removed the tracking ball and wiped it clean with a dry cloth. Using alchohol swabs might be in order, depending on the condition of the mouse. Now that you've done that, put the tracking ball back in and screw the lid shut again.

Once you've done this, you might consider giving your keyboard a "bath" too. Use a fine brush to sweep it clean and an alchohol swab wouldn't hurt either.

Please do not use water and soap, because that would be the most fatally stupid thing to do.

While you're at this, you might consider cleaning the comp and monitor too. Blow with your vacuum cleaner into the crevices of your computer and monitor and then use the suck otion to clear out the dust there.

Whether you buy a new set or what, keeping your equipment clean is not optional. Do try to remember that.

Left to be dirty and uncleaned will make it stink in its performance.

Cheers.

PS, I forgot, give your mousepad a "bath" too, for heaven's sake!

It probably just needs cleaned.

Open the buttom by twisting the circle shaped door holding the mouse ball.Inside there will be to thin rollers one that controls up and down the other controls left and right. You will probably see a black build up on both of these rollers. You need to remove all the build up with a finger nail or paper clip. Be sure to spin the rollers so you can remove it all.

There is another spring loaded roller in there to keep pressure on the other two rollers. This one is less important to clean but if you feel the need it couldn't hurt. After cleaning your mouse should work like a dream again.

I'm assuming that you have a mouse with a roller and not any type of optical mouse. Most likely the rollers that are touching the ball are clogged with dirt. Simply flip the mouse upside down remove the ball cover and take out the ball. You will see two slender rollers and they will probably have bumps on them, they should not. Use a tweezers or something small and hard to scrape off the junk. Put the ball and cover back in and the mouse should work like new.

if this is a mouse with a ball underneath it turn the mouse over and unscrew the cap that hlds the ball in. take out the rubber ball. clean the ball with alcohol. get a cotton swab and put alcohol on it (small amount is bewst so it doesn't drip) and rub the metal contacts inside the hole where the ball came from. there are several contacts in there be sure to get them all. keep repeating this process until your mouse works ok

Take the ball out of the bottom and clean the junk off the little wheels inside there. It'll work like a brand new mouse once it's cleaned.

Take the ball out from the bottom and wipe the ball off with alcohol. Sometimes it gets dusty and doesnt make contact with the sensors inside. Use a mouse pad too!

A ball-mouse will keep sticking no matter what. The ball just collects gunk. I HIGHLY recommend getting a Wireless Optical mouse. They are so much nicer.

is it a ball mouse? just tip it over and twist the thing holding the ball in, take out the ball and look at the rollers inside, are they dirty? just remove that crud and 9 times out of 10 your mouse will work well again, if not it need replacing.
