"Should the UK be aiming to strengthen or weaken its links with other member countries of the EU?".

Yes. They just don't participate in the Euro zone.

UK is member of the EU (European union = 25 countries) but not of the Euro Zone (12 countries, + Slovenia next January).
UK is also not member of the Schengen zone (common Visa) so check if you need a visa

Sure, the UK is one of 25 countries currently comprising the EU. However, the UK doesn't participate in the Euro. They have retained their own currency.

I liked your question. Yes dear UK is a EU state but it is not inside the euro-zone. you can say UK do not meet or over meet the EU norms which is essential that's why it is also no in the sengen visa zone, because they have lots of threat and EU do not want shrare the threat haaa, i think you get it the point.In conclusion you can say UK is in Bush zone rather EU zone and its a kind of slavery to jut follow the US policy rather their own...........
