My picks: Evansville, IN, Ohio, New Jersey, Maryland, California, Florida, and tops is...Kentucky (yes, it's that awful, not "that friendly", Louisville is worst, and the women have snotty attitudes.)
Texas and Alabama are the friendliest, in that order, just as a side note.

I have managed a few hotels, and my front desk staffs and I would say, hands down, that the rudest, snobbiest, most demanding (and sometimes foul-mouthed) guests we have ever experienced have been those who come to stay with church groups. It doesn't matter where they are from. Unbelievable but true. And usually the worst person who has ever called to complain about anything has been a pastor who attended either with a group or alone. I have run very nice hotels that almost no one else had a problem with, but I have had pastors call and threaten to do everything short of guarantee my seat in hell if I didn't give them their room for free due to some trumped up complaint.

I did a 3 yr. tour with Heritage Publishing Co. I was a Telephone Sales Representative. I called Businesses soliciting funds for non-profit organizations such as Special Olympics, Jaycee's, National guard etc.
Consequently, as a result, I called Nation Wide.
it has been my experience that the rudest people I've had the pleasure of speaking with if you will, are from New York!
Ohh! And snobbiest too!

It isn't so much the state as the upbringing. NJ has the most raciest people I have ever met. California are the phoniest, stupidity runs rampant thought the entire US, and male chauvinists seem to cluster in the Midwest unless they are middle eastern in which they are everywhere and treat women VERY badly (there are exceptions to this of course). Personally Canada is the best place to find good, rational people not in a hurry. Good question!!

Used to live in Evansville and found the people there to be among the nicest and friendliest around. Sorry you had a bad experience with it.

Definitely the scum of the Earth are those who work for the IRS. I had to call them on a daily basis for a prior job and what a pain in the a$$ they are. Do they sweep these people out of the sewers?
They work fed jobs, get great pay, and great benefits, but are just the rudest people.

I would say Louisiana as just driving through to move to Texas, we have never been so flipped off by people driving! We had to drive slow due to driving a moving truck and people got very angry!! Texas, Iowa and North Carolina are the best and friendliest states!!!
