I have been shopping at hot topic, but I feel like something is missing. I dont know. I thought punk/rock/emo meant to be anti-establishment, yet I see them selling cheap stuff for alot of money and I feel kinda cheated. The point is for rock kids to be able to afford clothes. I guess I think maybe DIY (do it yourself) is more respectable than buying 'cookie cutter stuff' that someone thought for me to wear. Some stuff is cool, but some stuff is lame. What do you guys think? What would be the perfect Rock Store? What do you hate/love about Hot topic?

You have explained it all right there. It's a fake attempt to push a product not meant for it's purpose. The perfect rock store should have a large variety of music. Say Like Tower Records or Virgin MegaStore. Specialize and help expose the little known guys instead of the mass market.

I Love it! Not because of it's product but because of its marketing. It does sell "punk-esque" clothing and accessories to over privileged middle class kids who don't know any better and think it's cool... The best part is that Hot Topic has the same parent company as The Gap, Banana Republic, and Old Navy... The exact establishment that they are trying to rebel against. It's just another product line for them.

No, I dont like Hot Topic. Mostly its because, Im a girly girl and not a rocker. But, If was I still dont think I would shop there. Its more gothic to me then punk. You should try "Pacific Sun". Thats a good store. Its afforable, and punky.

I am a prep..soo obviosly i dont shop there.. I like Aeropostale, Forever 21, Charlotte Rousse and Pacsun. In my opinion the people who work in Hot Topic scares me! Like one time i went in there and this lady who worked there had a peircing on her lip then a chain went up into her ear! And she looked like she got into a fight with her makeup case! Soo i dont know. Just My Opinion!

no its too dark and the ppl in there kinda scare me...altho i did get my napoleon dynamite costume in there and that was a plus lol
