For instance the majority of people need a boss or ceo of a company to look after them. Or citizens of a country need a ruler to tell them if everything is ok. Then say the authority figure disapears for a while people question their chain of command and start to freak out and run around like chickens with their heads cut off.

On the whole, I agree. There are followers who absolutely need guidance (see organized religion), and there are leaders who get things done without the need for acceptance by their peers.

This goes exactly with my theory of different speeds of evolution by individuals. Leaders evolve more quickly, and followers are a little behind on the evolutionary scale.

i think people dont necesarily need an athority figure, but they do need direction, or somehting to give them a sense of purpose, hence alot of people with thier careers, some people with thier religion and whatever other things people throw themselves into. its not a matter of one central figure, but people need direction, almost like a child. being able to predict with absolute certinty the consequenses of your actions relives alot of life stress

Agree. "people" as a group cannot be counted on to continue on task. An individual can sometimes be counted on to stay on task, like in the workplace.
