I say take all the time you need to get to know this guy. The greatest mistake is that we tend to rush into a relationship without getting to know about that person. There dislike and there likes, what is there favorite food and there favorite places they like to go.
If we take the time to learn then you will find yourself more happy then sad.

That would depend on the guy. How old are the both of you. Is the guy a nice guy? Is he a player? Is he controlling? Possesive? Does he get crazy jealous? Or is he genuine and going to care for you as you do him? If you can get info of this sort from those that know him better than you do, then you have the answer. If he is a genuinly good guy that will care for you and treat you well and does then you really don't need to know that much before asking him out. If he is the previous then 1st off you don't want to be with him, but if he seems that way then you dig.

if you like a guy, it's much better if you know him more. but in able to do this is to ask him out and get to know him at first hand. by that, you can decide for yourself if he's worth your time or not rather than rely on second-hand information which is usually bias.

How are you going to know a lot about them before you ask them out? If I picked my dates based on rumor and hearsay, I'd never get laid again.

While I agree you should go with your gut, knowledge is power. There are some things you probably don't want to find out about later (e.g., he has a criminal record, he has V.D. and didn't tell you, he has a child by another woman, etc.). Best not to go flying blind.

It really doesn't matter how much you know about them. It is only by going out with them that you truly learn to know them. Be careful though... don't go out with just anyone!

Go with your gut, it's right more often than not. Go for it, take a chance. I did and I am quite happy I did, 4 months and going strong!
