If all the claims of racial slurs are true, Materazzi deserves it. SAY NO TO RACISM, that's the Fifa campaign, racist remarks should not be treated so lightly.
If I was Zizou and my mom was in the hospital which off course would cause huge distress emotionally and such a racist remark made to me, I couldn't hold my anger any longer, I would have done the same thing. But after I did it, I would realise that I should have done that AFTER the match.
Sometimes things need to unfold there and then at the exact moment or it will lose its validity. To me, my image of Zidane is still not tarnished. He's an incredible player.

I think he deserved it, but Zizou shouldn't have done it in his last game ever!! Poor farewell...that's disappointing...I dunno why you guys are all hanging on the terrorist thing..sure it's not fair and nice at all!! You can't call someone a terrorsit, doesn't matter where they are from...The worst thing for me is (if it's true though - an Italian lip reader said this was what Materazzi said to Zidane also) to tell somebody in his face: I wish you and your family to die a horrible death. That's like worth for going to jail in my opinion...you don't wish somebody to die!!!! The reason why he's denying he knows what a terrorist is in my opinion the male Italian mentality...they don't like to admit they did something wrong...so they act ignorant and like nothing bad has really happened

I agree he did. He called him a terrorist and there's supposed to be no racism in the world cup. I think that Zizou should have kept his cool and beat him on the field instead. I think that FIFA should find out what Materazzi said and do something about it.

I think he got what he deserved and what he wanted. By getting Zidane sent off, it made his team win. Materazzi is a dirty player and should be banned for two games for his actions.

If I find it again I'll post it but Materazzi really is scared. In an interview I've read, he denied calling him a dirty terrorist and called himself naive and said he had no idea what a terrorist was.
