Do you think your father was born old? Hahaha. He was ONCE YOUR AGE. And I bet once he sat around asking his friends why his dad did the same thing to him. Sheesh, when will this ever end?

Because he can relate you, he was a kid/young adult once before too. Times aren't as different know as they were 20 years ago. A lot of the same things such as peer pressure, sex, annoying parents, bullies, etc. were around when our parents were kids, and they are around now as well. You should just listen to your Dad. It's just a polite thing to do, whether you take his advice or not. You may want to though because he's already made his mistakes - you just might be able to learn from him.

Remember even though ur parents might be boring and dorks and all up ur butt, doesnt mean that they arent human. I know its hard for you to accept but at one time ur mother and father were ur age. So that means they CAN relate to you. Even if its just them relatin to ur age. Im sure u can remember one time or another when one of ur parents told u not to do or touch something because it would hurt. Like a hot stove. It works the same way when they tell u they can relate. U trusted ur parents to make sure u didnt get injured as a child. Trust them to guide u as a young adult!

Do you think parents just dropped from the sky all grown up? Parents were your age once and everything you're going through, everything you've seen, everything you're feeling, everything you want to do they've been there. Sex, drugs, crazy music, fads, styles, drinking, love etc. none of it's new. That's why parents tell you to talk to them. Be smart and at least listen to what he has to say you may be surprised at what he knows and how he can help you. He can't live your life for you but he can make this part of it easier.

Don't forget, parents were once teenagers too. The lies, excuses and the tricks that you may try to play on them they've done to their parents. History repeats itself over and over again. Your parents had the same problems, the same feelings and the same urges, so yes, they do know what you're going through. You'll see this when you have children. Also, like I said, history repeats itself, if you're really rebellious to your parents, then wait until you have kids. I've seen this more than once. Best of luck to you.........

Because for some reason, kids think that parents were never kids. Not much has changed from when I was a kid and now except for technology. Parents have been through all of what their kids are going through.

My parents don't do that but some people on here are saying that parents went through the same thing. But the fact is that they didn't. i mean, society has changed so much that its not even funny. people today have so much more crap to deal with than people did back then, and to answer your question, I thinks its because they don't think your situation is so bad, they think they had it so hard, and that everyone else has it easy

you have to remember they were once your age, and they can remember what things were like and things they did at your age. I know i try to steer my daughter in the direction i hope she goes. I love her no matter what, we just don't want you making the same mistakes we did, lord knows I have made MANY!!! its because believe it or not we do love you, we do want the BEST!!! for you, when your happy, we are happy!!! parents will always try to protect you and give you direction. it usually is not because we are trying to make your life miserable..I promise...

Because he was once your age. Parents know you better than anyone else. You listen to them now and when you get older you will be glad you did. They know what is best for you.
