I certainly hope so. There are far too many violations of the rules that lower the quality of both questions and answers. You have people going on political rants, using Y!Answers as a soapbox and not for its intended purpose of asking factual questions. Furthermore, there are a ton of questions involving solicitation, obscene content, personal attacks, or gaming for points. It's about time Yahoo! actually cracks down on it and cleans things up. And if you regard abiding by the rules as solely a conservative value, well then so be it.

While everyone has the right to free speech, Yahoo! is (legally speaking) an individual entity. Only the government can (not may) violate one's Constitutional rights. Furthermore, one's membership with Yahoo! is completely voluntarily, similar to employment-at-will: either party can terminate it any time for any reason. When we all signed up for Yahoo! we all 'read' the terms of use and all that jazz. The rules for Yahoo!Answers are very clearly set forth, and if a user violates them, Yahoo! can punish them as they see fit. Heck, Yahoo! can boot you any time they feel like it. It might not be nice, it might not be 'right' or 'fair', but they do have the right to control what you can and cannot do. And if you don't like it, you can always go somewhere else that has rules that you do like. If such a place doesn't exist, you can just make your own. Those are the rules, they're not excessively harsh or political, so either quit crying or shove off.

Yes hunni, and i am proof of that. I was so close to level 5 when i got dinged for chatting because someone kept attacking my family not to mention they took pics of my 360 page and posted them here. They had no contact info so i had no choice but to chat to defend myself myself. Yahoo is full of crap, in my opinion on a lot of levels. The only reason i am back iis because i have a few people on here that i adore there q's and answers. But i find it to wrong that i get suspended for defennding myself, yet these people are still making veiled threats on most of my q's. where the hell is the justice.....Sio i got suspended, and had to start all over again, until some idiot decides again that they do not like my q;s or answers

Huh? What does being a Conservative have to do with Yahoo Answers? Doesn't someone get reported for posting inappropriate questions? If Yahoo suspends that person it is because they were not following the Yahoo guidelines... not because of their politics.
Are you some sort of conspiracist?

I agree with freedom of speech. I don't think Yahoo! should censor anything but the words prohibited from television and radio.

If we want an open forum, I say we have an open forum. People should be able to ask whatever questions they want. In turn, people should be able to answer whatever questions they want, in whatever manner they want. You don't have to agree with the poster. Learn to disagree and still be okay with it.

"Agree to disagree."

If you don't like the topic, or are offended by it. Don't answer it. Don't respond to it. Free speech means that sometimes you won't like everything you hear, but you're free to say your opinions.

I am strongly offended by certain responses by my questions. However, I recognise that the posters have absolutely every right ot voice their opinion. If i'm offended, I don't have to read it again!

Why try to silence someone you don't agree with? It may turn on you someday and you could get silenced on something you want to be heard.

Let people talk. Let people speak their minds without fear of punishment. We've got an open forum. Let's keep it that way. If you don't like something, don't read.

Honestly, we're an intelligent species. Can't we be smart enough to just not look at things we don't like?

(Impersonation is the only topic I think that should be reported)

Are you complaining because people are abiding by the rules? Instead of doing that why don't you petition to have the rules changed?

If the battle has indeed begun, then wage it with words and persuasion, not random questions with oblique insults.

Right wingers, left wingers, there's an Iggy Pop album named Blah Blah Blah. Most people will complain if they think they have a reason. Some will complain for the sake of complaining. As someone said, you can explain yourself. Nothing new in the world.

Even if someone does report you for abuse Yahoo is supposed to study the issue and see for themselves if the abuse claim is justified or not.

I suggest you simply watch your language, be as fair as possible and try not to look like you're pushing some political or personal agenda.

LOL......when I signed up on Yahoo it did not ask me to disclose my political bias. Are you really that insecure and small that you want to blame the conservatives for your failings? You are certainly a product of the left.

For someone who studies people, you sure do get aggravated with them pretty easy. Chill! It's not going to matter 20 years from now.
