Tell him that smoking will damage blood vessels in the penis and will shorten the penis and ultimately lead to impotence. This is all real. Canada and Australia alread force "Smoking can lead to impotence" label on cigarette box.

Go to this site and show him the famous UK Fingerleg Commercial, and the commercials with kids in it. http://anti-smoking-ads.blogspot.com/
My friend stop wearing seatbelt until her boyfriend quits. A real man can die for the country, he can also do this for ones he love.
Finally, go watch the movie "Thank you for smoking" and have some laugh.
God bless your kid and all our kids...

Congrats on the new blessing! The first 6 weeks of pregnancy should be fine, but props to you for deciding to quit! Many people don't bother. When you go to the dr they can give you books/info about the stages and how second hand smoke affects the fetus- show that to your husband. It may disturb him enough for him to quit.
If he will not quit- there are a few things you need to require from him. 1 is to never smoke inside the house or car (without the windows down). Does he smoke around your daughter now? If not, then why would he think it's any different with this new baby. Don't stress yourself about a little smoking- seriously you have another 7 months of stress :)

If you are worried about the affects on your baby just consult your physician. You should not smoke during you pregnancy even if other people have. Way to go in making that decision! When I quit I switched to chocolate. I don't mean massive amounts of chocolate every time I'm stressed. I mean I have a small piece of chocolate after I eat once in awhile. The chemical happenings in the brain when consuming chocolate and nicotine are similar. That's why they both can make us feel better. I would also challenge myself by saying, "Okay, I didn't smoke yesterday and I wonder how long it will be today before I will even want a smoke." Most of the time it was not at all. Now that the actual habit is busted, I just don't think about it much. For me, it just wasn't as hard as people think it is. Last thing, your husband smoking around you is something you can control by leaving his prescence. If he chooses to continue than he misses out on time with you because of an addiction and you get the satisfaction that comes with taking responsibility for your health and your childs health.

since you smoke that much everyday, your body got adjusted having these poisons running ur body. That's why people with more serious drug problems can actually die by quiting abruptly. You hav to take decrease your amount of cigarettes maybe every few weeks or whatever you're comfortable with. The reason why you were coughing and stuff (tryign to not smoke) was because your body was so used to having 2-5 cigarettes a day. So each week you should decrease slowly from 2-4cigarettes, then another few weeks, 2-3, then so on.

I just quit smoking 3 weeks ago and I did it from pure will power. I wanted to quit drinking and smoking to better my health and was determined to be successful. I haven't even taken a drag since my last one. But what makes it so easy for me is that my live-in boyfriend quit with me. We decided that it was something we wanted to do and couldn't be done unless we did it together. Your husband needs to worry about his unborn child and realize that just b/c its you that's pregnant doesn't mean he can keep smoking. Besides the fact that you shouldn't be around smoke at all, if its a temptation to you then he should be more than willing to quit with you. Having a baby is a joint effort on many levels. You need his support and that includes quitting anything you have to quit. If he doesn't agree then he's not completely committed to being a father.

Don't feel bad, done can't be undone. I smoked until I was 6 months preggers & have a healthy weight baby. I know your pain in being exposed to other smokers . After I quit I was the only non smoker in my family! The way I quit that really worked for me was not telling anybody I was quitting. I did not set an oficial date, just cut back until I was smoking none. One day I might have 2 & follow that with 10 the next day, but since nobody knew I was quitting they couldn't say boo. Next thing ya know, I'm smoke free & demanding people step outside to smoke, both for the baby & me cuz smelling the cigs made me crave them so bad! Even now that the babys born people smoke outside when he's around. I also expected my hubby to quit with me, the whole teamwork thing, but demanding he quit with me caused more problems than it solved, so I let him be. Smoking & quitting is a very personal choice that individuals must want for themselves, not be forced upon. PS Jolly Ranchers worked for me when I had cravings!

Your baby should be fine. I conceived on Dec. 19 and got really drunk on New Year's, and the baby was completely fine.
It seems like your husband needs to be more supportive of the fact that it takes TWO parents to bring a child into the world. Especially if he is smoking around your daughter...secondhand smoke is just as dangerous. I suggest you quit for good...it sounds like you're doing great already (CONGRATS!) The simple fact is, as hard as it may be for him, he needs to quit as well, for the family's health and to support you in this pregnancy.

You can do it...just put your mind to it. The health of your child REALLY is at stake, but of course you already know this...
Hubby is not being nice, he knows second hand smoke is bad as well. Tell him not to do it around you, at the very least. Keep up with what you are doing so far, its a good start. Eat healthy and keep busy, the craving to smoke will get easier in due time...
Good luck to you and your baby.

You can't change the last 8 weeks---but you're doing the right thing now!! Good for you and congratulations!!!!
Praying is the only thing that helped me quit--seriously.And don't let your brain fool you into thinking you can have "just one"....Remember you're a puff away from a pack a day.
Just keep thinking of your sweet baby to give you strength.
Oh and by the way--your husband is a selfish SOB.
