Can I use a SIM card that holds up to 500 numbers on a phone that is originally supposed to hold up to 1000 numbers?

Your sim card is what tracks your info and number so if you take it out and stick it in another phone, all the numbers will be stored on it still and your phone calls will go to that new phone right away. Just make sure you stored your numbers to the sim card and not just to the phone. The only thing that wont go with you is ring tones. As long as both phones are GSM it is simple to do, if you get confused go to any Radio Shack and have them do it for you.

No, they do not. It depends on the brand of the phone not the system the phone uses.
