Parking is free in Vegas at most places. However, I recommend Valet parking. In Vegas it doesn't cost anything at most of the casinos and hotels. Just give the Valet a dollar or two when they bring your car back. Trust me it is a real joy to get out of the car and walk right into the front door. I go to Vegas every year and always rent a car.

Again I go to Vegas every year. I have stayed at almost every hotel on the strip and a couple off the strip, and I have never been charged for parking. Vegas is not like hotels in other cities.

You can see most of the stuff on the Strip by walking, so you don't need a rental car. There is a free monorail between Bellagio and the Monte Carlo Hotel and also another free one between Excalibur, Luxor, and Mandalay Bay. The one on the opposite side of the street you have to pay to ride. There is a free bus between Harrahs Hotel to the RIO Hotel that runs every half hour. There is also a free bus that you can get outside the Barbery Coast Casino that will take you to the Orleans and some other off strip casinos.

If you do get a rental car, parking at all of the Strip and off strip hotels is free; I know I have been to Vegas 3 or 4 times a year for the past 20. All of the strip hotels have parking lots and garages or you can use their FREE valet parking. I fyou go to Freement Street, there is a parking garage that is free if you get your parking ticket stamped in one of the casinos restaurants or coffee shots. If you want to go to some off strip casinos, or Hoover Dam, or Red Rock Canyon, get a car. But if you are not going to any places off the strip do not.

We've never had to pay for parking at a casino/hotel in Las Vegas. But think about if you are going to be needing a car for the whole time you are there. We rented one on a past visit, and only used it a couple of times. Another time we only rented one for a 24 hour period (rental agency was right in our hotel/casino) and did all of our sight seeing in one day. It all depends on how much driving around you want to do. Also, as far as busses and shuttles are concerned...if you are staying at one end of the strip and wanting to go to the other end or downtown, it could take quite a while for you to get there...lots & lots of stops.

If your going to stay at a hotel then a car is a waste of money.
The hotel will charge you 16 dollars a day for parking.

There is a bus that leaves just outside the baggage claim at the Las Vegas airport. 5-7 dollars per person depending on which hotel you are going to.

Once your on the strip you can walk everywhere.

Most casinos have free self and valet parking. I always self-park at NYNY, Mandalay Bay, Aladdin, and Treasure Island because the garages are easily accessible. I valet at Mirage, MGM, and Wynn. I do whichever at Hard Rock - depends on what's happening.

But, if you're just going to be casino hopping on the Strip, it's just an added expense to have a car. You can just as easily walk to where you want to go - and in the evenings and on weekends, it's faster!

As for public transpo: after dark, ALWAYS do cabs. Buses are sketchy.

Oh, I wouldn't rent a car. You can walk to many places, and if it's too far you can take a taxi. We've been there three times and the traffic on the strip is unreal. The taxi drivers know how to get you where you're going and avoid the worst traffic. My husband and I have remarked to each other that we were really glad that we weren't trying to drive in Vegas ourselves--what a hassle.

if you're staying someplace it somewhat is a minimum of walking distance to the strip & it somewhat is all you favor, then do not get the motor vehicle, there is more suitable then sufficient to work out & do for some days with out the more suitable value, quite if it really is your first vacation to Vegas. A motor vehicle is discover finished if you're at between the lodges faraway from the city, in case you favor to take a street vacation out to the Grand Canyon or in case you'd be there for more suitable then very few days. purely employ the motor vehicle for the days you like it.

unless you plan to go to the dam or the grand canyon there's no need for a car the bus run 24 hrs a day its only $5 for a 24hr pass well worth it as you can get on and off as many times as you want. cabs are a ripe off its most of the time cheaper to rent a limo for your big night out then to take a cab. I had a limo pick me up at the airport and take me to my hotel to check in then to dinner at another place it was only 78 plus tip for 2hrs.
like i always say, YOUR ON VACATION ACT LIKE IT.

Are you planning on staying on the Strip for the whole vacation?
If so, your car will just stay in the garage. You're better off taking the bus or monorail.
