I take it you want to open your own travel agency since this question was posted in the Small Business section...
The best routes to take are to research the process of starting a business as well as the industry you're interested in.
I recommend checking out the SBA, Entrepreneur, The Start Up Journal & Nolo. All 4 are great informational resources for the new/small business owner. I posted links for you in the source box.
Associations may be a good avenue to explore as well. These organizations will address many of the thoughts, questions and concerns you'll inevitably have as well as many you haven't anticipated yet. See the source box for some relevant links.
Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can about the industry. Here are some book titles that are relevant:
* How to Start a Home Based Travel Agency by Tom Ogg, Joanie Ogg,
* Start Your Own Specialty Travel & Tour Business by Entrepreneur Press
* Start Your Own Travel Agency by Adam Starchild
* Home-Based Travel Agent, 5th Edition by Kelly Monaghan
I also posted links to some free articles in the source box.
Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

When you have a moment, please visit http://www.ytb.com/godsgirl2travel Please click on the view presentation link. This will give you all of the information needed to start your own on line travel agency. You may even sign up at this site and in a matter of minutes, your own travel agency website will be up and running. You can then start calling your family and friends and tell them to book all of your travel with you. If you own a car, purchase a set of car magnets, your car is the best form of advertisement for your new business. Also, place your signature file in your email address so that whenever you send out your email, people will know that you are in the travel business. Hand out your business card to everyone you meet. Everyone books travel at one point in their lives why shouldn't they book their travel with you. When you purchase gas, go inside to pay for your gas and give the person your business card, if you have any work being done in your home..contractors, cable repair, telephone repair etc..give them your business card, when the pizza delivery person delivers your pizza..give them a business card. Soon you will find a great customer base for your travel agency. If you have any additional questions please contact me cassandra@godsgirl2travel.com
