Does no one else find it hypocritical that Zidane was still given the Golden Ball award despite head-butting Materazzi in a fashion that would make a goat proud, where as Cristiano Ronaldo was denied Best Young Player because of his "antics" on the pitch? Zidane makes C. Ronaldo look like a saint, hell he even makes Rooney look innocent.
What a World Cup.

I know that the award was decided before the final match, I think I read somewhere it had been decided in half-time but there is such a thing as revoking the award... I mean I would

I don't think giving Zidane the Golden Ball award is as hypocritical as FIFA directing the referees to be stricter about giving out yellow cards and red cards and then having Sepp Blatter claim the Russian referee, Ivanov, should be given a yellow card for handing out 16 cautions and ejecting four players in a very ugly game.
Zidane's reaction to some comment that's still not confirmed is more a weakness than evilness. Zidane has cracked in response to racial slurs before and it's certainly likely his opponents knew about his history. I still don't think you give him the Golden Ball just out of principle. (Besides, Cannavaro was probably more deserving - I think having both Cannavaro and Pirlo nominated split the votes enough for Zidane to win.)
Rooney's actions had nothing to do with evilness or being a poor sport, either. If you watch this video, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYlzTdSZeI4&search=silly%20walk), you'll understand what happened. ;-)

No, I don't find it hypocritical at all. The journalists that covered the world cup voted before the finals, for the MVP of entire World Cup was. Even after the finals match, I still would have given the golden ball to Zizou. He made a mistake. So what. That doesn't erase all of the great playing he did before that moment in time.

I don't think that this year the Golden Ball was decided before the match. I heard voters had until midnight AFTER the final to vote. If that's the case, that just makes it stranger that he DID get the award.
BTW, FIFA has threatened to pull the award. Yeah, right, like that's going to happen.

You're absolutely right! I did say that myself yesterday. It's incredible huh? Ronaldo would be a bad example, they said. Does that mean Zidane is a good one? What a load of crap!
