right to information act should be granted to the citizens?

its actually called the freedom of information act, it just celebrated its 40th birthday i believe, and it does apply to citizens. it doesnt mean we have to know every single thing the government is doing, but the government does need to be watched and the people should know about things, especially if what the government is doing is illegal.
