I like the lyrics. I think that if you have musical training and you used an instrument you're more likely to listen to just the music. But if you had vocal training your more likely to listen to lyrics.

Well, I would have to say that no one listens entirely to the music OR the lyrics. The lyrics have to flow with the music to create a harmony worth listening to, which is why most pop vocals have a female singer singing highly, and most heavy metal bands have a man singing very harshly, grungy.
So I would probably have to disagree with you.

No, I do not agree with you at all. I listen to the lyrics. The lyrics are the most important part of a song, really (of course good music is imperative, too). But who wants to listen to a song about murderer or rape or satan and all that crud?

yes, i think most people just listen to the music and not the lyrics. and these days who can blame them the lyrics are deperssing or very shallow. no poetry or metaphor anymore. or like with rap talking about getto life who needs that. the music is still good but the message or creativity is disgusting.

I totally agree with you. Specially when the song has a good rhythm, but I think that's completely normal.
Anyway we don't lose very much, cuz the lyrics have been very bad lately, except for the Paris Hilton song, which has very inspiriting lyrics, HAHHAHAAHA, no way! Just kiddin!

Personally, I listen to both. I think it's important to know what one is putting into their mind. I like the whole experience of music. However, there are plenty of people that don't care what the words say. They just get into the music. If I want to just get into the music I prefer to listen to techno or classical.

I must listen more to the music because i've gone years singing words to a song only to find out that the words i'm singing are not the same ones the artist is singing.
