With compassion, with your thoughts and vision on another reality for those around you. Don't look at what others don't do, the most creative way of change starts with your idea of something. Wish good for them, giving your last penny can actually do more than millions--it's all about your intention and your belief. We pity the poor and graciously give money--but nothing ever changes because our attitude doesn't, we continue to pity, instead of stepping in t their shoes and feel compassion, they are our brothers and sisters really. We might have this idea of being more deserving because of where we where born, but everything you think, feel and do affect the whole. You are one powerful being, so use it to help those around you.

Donate your time and effort. Work in a soup kitchen, or for Salvation Army. Go around your neighborhood and see if you can drum up clothes or other items to give to needy families. Check your local community for what programs are offered for the poor. Possibilites are made not found.

What about working with a homeless shelter, they always need help serving food or claean up. Also call friends and ask for clothes, shoes, coats etc. that they are getting rid of and donate them to the shelters, or organizations that deal with safe house for women and children. Volunteering doesn't cost any thing.
Also I crochet and I am making hats, scarfs, mittens etc. for children. Good Luck....

Donate your time. You could still help groups like Habitat for Humanity, or the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. Even helping out by reading to kids at your local library could help them get interested in books, and maybe encourage them to get a better education.

Wow! You are a special person to ask this question. Alot of us don't have much money, but our time is worth alot. You can give your time in a number of ways. Your hands can help serve food. They can give a hug to someone lonely. You can give a smile to someone that is sad or just listen to a person that needs to talk. Often times I think that giving of ourselves is even more valuable than giving money. The great thing is that while we are giving we are blessed too.

Pray for them. Also talk to them. Let them know that they are important. I feel that people don't have to be rich, famous, popular, be in a certain group, etc. to be important. We are all important to God. He loves us just as we are. When we go to Heaven God doesn't care about our status here on Earth. Only that we believe in Him and love Him. And also accept Jesus as our personal savior. Tell them these things and let them know that God loves them and that being poor or homeless is not God's punishment for anything they may have done. Also that God will NEVER let us go through a situation that we (along w/ Him) can't handle. Peace, Love, and Good Luck. May God Bless You.

I've learned from life that if you want anything done, you have to do it yourself. Set up educational programs yourself. Obviously you have a computer. There is a vast amount of information out there. Teach your community to read, write, basic math skills, etc. That doesn't cost anything and is the basis to sucess.

Teach them God's promises regarding the future.

Volunteer at a local food bank. Look around for other places you can volunteer, from health clinics to literacy classes. You don't need money to help others.

You might find an organization that already helps them and volunteer your time to help out there. There are many organizations (private and non-profits) that are not affiliated with the government.
