I think that all cultural icons are a platform for the ideals and agendas of any demographic that wishes to use them as such. Myself, I am pragmatic. I saw them as educational tools for children.

There have always been rumors about them. But, you can never be really sure. They do have twin beds but so did The Beav's parents June and Ward Cleaver.
If the news about Bert and Ernie disturbs you, you might want to sit down when I tell you that they have being saying things about Winnie the Pooh and Piglet too.

If they were meant to be anything, they were more a tribute to Felix Ungar and Oscar Madison, the Odd Couple. What muppets do in their private lives really shouldn't bother anybody. As long as Bert and Ernie are helping children learn what numbers, letters, shapes, patterns, and hmmm, opposites, are all about, then let it be.

I believe that Bert and Ernie are in fact homosexual. I also believe that if they ever come out, everybody on Sesame Street will not accept them for who they are. They will become outcasts. It seems to me like Elmo might also have something to do with this relationship fiasco. I had my suspicions about Grover as well but he seems too real to be gay. Hes just very eccentric.

They were roommate's and slept on twin beds. Bert was very precise and Ernie was a free spirit. You could say they were the odd couple.

They sleep in separate beds. But when one or the other gets that certain "urge" they hop on over to the other's bed. I think they're gay. They're the muppet version of the Odd Couple. And what is up with Bert's obsession with pigeon's?

What if they were brothers and they lived together, it's nothing wrong, or maybe just roommates, but the fact that two grown men sleep on the same bed does leave open questions on their sexuality, seeing how they never made refrences to liking girls. I don't know.

Come on, it's a kids show for goodness sake! It's a healthy, educational and fun show. Sesame Street teaches kids good and healthy things, so I think to have thoughts like that is abit sick.

It's odd - people don't want their kids to see two friends share a room - but will send them to college with a roomate
Yet they allow anyone to go and talk to the monster in a trash can who yells all the time...go figure...
