You take the strip off the back of the pad and place it sticky side down into your underwear. You want the pad to be in the crotch part of your knickers, where the blood is going to come out. The tabs just tuck in underneath your knickers to hold the pad in place. You can't go swimming with a pad on, it will absorb loads of water from the swimming pool. If you can't wear a tampon I'd suggest telling someone that you can't go swimming because you're on your period. If you really want to, you COULD risk it with no sanitary protection, bleeding tends to stop when you're in the water, but personally I wouldn't want to risk it as it could be pretty embarrassing!!!

Pads are put in the crotch of your underwear with the tabs folding over the sides and holding to the bottom. However, DON'T go swimming wearing a pad.....for that you would use a tampon.

You put it in the center of your underwear. Before you go swimming, make sure you wear a tampon. Ask your mom!
