Pets from animal shelters are free, and need a home. However, you must know that a pet is a responsibility and not an amusement, and they shouldn't be abandoned ever again

If you want a pet to look at a cheap one would be a fish or small hamster or gerbil. But if you want a PET a good pet would be a dog. After you first get them and get there shots and tags and things the only thing you have to buy is dog food. Plus you can play with dogs, they can go places with you, they are a great companion, love you no matter what, and can be easily trained.

A cat that lives outside in the country. It'll eat mice and hardly eat any food. Besides, cat food isn't expensive. However, if you don't want it to have kittens, or disease, you have vet bills. Maybe you're better off with a fake pet, like the little office assistant in Microsoft Word. :)

I think the bulldog is the worst and cheapest pet, that is my opinion at least, personally I prefer the tiger, it is so cool!

A Pet Rock. Hardly ever eats and consumes very little water. Responds to the "STAY!" command like you read about.

Probably fish or turtles, I've had both, so it's negligible. But you know what is really cheap, those tiny electronic, keychain dogs that were popular about 9, 10 years ago.

actually, cats aren't too bad if you get them after surgery (spay/neuter and declaw if you wish..I imagine that cats with claws would be expensive if you want to keep nice furniture and woodwork in your house)
