I sell a lot of stuff I no longer want. You can set selling options like: no one that have 2 negative feedback in the past month, no international buyers. Things like that are smart to use. I've always had a good experience selling but a few mad ones when buying. Hope this helps and good luck. XOXO

My experience as a non-business seller is that I get 50% at the most for new and desireable items that I purchased at retail. This is also true of business sellers that sell highly desireable new handbags such as Louis Vuitton, Couch, Gucci, D&B, etc. I have sold a couple handbags that were not designer and received about $5 - $10 for a new (I never used it) $50 retail purse and my rating is 100% positive with a navy blue star.
As for my experiences in general, there are many. Mostly good but a few headaches. Just recently a bidder won an item but their account was closed the next day. There was also another auction when a customer was not happy although everything was disclosed. I ended up asking her to donate the item and I wrote the item off on taxes. And I had two winning bidders that claimed that the item was broken and it turned out that they just didn't know how to use them - a camera and a computer. Because of these experiences, I will only sell items over $100, use PayPal, and ship to confirmed addresses. I also overly describe the item - the more the bidder knows, the better.

Many times and it is a great place to make money. Best tip I can give is, start the price low to get the bidding frenzy going. Someone will pay $40 for something they have bid on for 7 days instead of $30 on another auction that had a starting bid of $30. It doesn't always happen that way but people get competitive in bidding and don't want to lose the bid to someone else. It is funny to see but it is real. Also provide good pictures. That is a must. Good luck

I have sold a lot of things on ebay and I learned that you shouldn't sell to international buyers. (Canadians are fine.) They are a hassle, they can be unreliable and they don't seem to be worried about going by the ebay code of conduct.
Other than that, my ebay sales have been very successful!
