I can't imagine why you are getting married at 17. If you are slightly overweight investing in good clothing that is cut to skim the body and be flowy would be most flattering. Empire waisted gowns and shirts hide a stomach, and knee length skirts help to disguise large thighs. Jeans in an even dark wash will make you look thinner, and if you have large hips buy pants that don't go in much at the knee, and you will look more balanced. Wear thicker fabrics so the little bulges don't show, and heels can make you look taller and thinner.

If you want a heavy wedding dress, try on fabrics that are thicker and not as flowy to get a more defined shape. Beading can draw attention to your better areas, and a decorated neckline can draw eyes up to your face.

Opt for a style with an empire waistline (just below the bust). This style works wonders for the heavier set woman, since it creates the illusion of a smaller waist while 'hiding' the truth. There are some beautiful styles that you can choose from. If I had a pic of my wedding dress, I would attach it, but I don't (I was very large when I got married 5 years ago, but have lost almost 120lbs since then).
