The load times depend on the speed of your computer and how much crap you have...I downloaded a TON of stuff for my Sims and mine takes forever to load. If that's what you've done, just go through your downloads folder and get rid of anything you don't really use. If there isn't anything in your downlaods folder, make sure you have no other programs running in the background, try getting more RAM for your computer or get a new computer.

I love Sims 2, and the wait is frustrating. The only thing you can do to make it go slightly faster is make sure that all of your other applications are "exited," not just "closed." You can do this by right-clicking on the application icons on the right-hand side of the screen and choosing the exit option off from the displayed menu. Good luck.

I know! But that all depends on the type of computer you have. The better your computer the faster the game is. Also try making sure before you play that there are no web browsers or virus protections on. Happy Simming!

On Sims 1, you can get up the 'Cheat box' then type "quit" (I think) and it will quit. You have to make sure you already saved.
This might work for Sims 2.
Hope this helps :)

If you have a lot of additional items/downloads in your game, this will slow it a lot. I use Sims2Pack Clean Installer to check for duplicates and empty files. It seems that when you download additional stuff, it makes empty files and these can slow you down too. I think you can get the Clean Installer at http://www.modthesims2.com. Hope it helps with your game, it has helped me decrease the time it takes for the game to load.

you've probably done it, run a disk cleanup to remove the junk and checked the disk for errors? What about checking ur fragmentation levels, as these could be a reason for slowdown. You could also maybe clean out the dust from the cases and check if all your fans are working fine. Its possible ur system is still infected, maybe you could get ur log checked by a HJT expert. Also try unwanted items from startup, see if it helps.

I "LOVE" the Sims, but I don't have the Sims 2 yet...but it sounds like you need more memory on your computer.
