Because back in the day, slaves would have to go to sleep to the sound of the buzzing bees, because the stupid white people insist on being lazy.

It's the sound. Say Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. It sounds kind of like the noise of soft snoring.

I think it is supposed to mimic the sound people make when they sleep, zzzzzzzzzz, unless you snore of course and I don't know how to spell that sound.

The snoring sound supposedly sounds like ZZZZZZ or a humming or buzzing noise. I don't think so.
