Patriarchal societies are considered to be universal. Arguably, there have been found a rare few matriarchal societies, one is found off the coast of Papua New Guinea.
Despite the fact that there have been many successful feminine quests to obtain basic rights (ie: Suffrage movement, feminist movement etc.), to answer your question, all societies remain male dominated at this time.
I did appreciate reading that the Catholic Church has apologized for its past participation in behaviors that have caused harm and suffering to women. Hopefully, other groups will follow suit and past transgressions against women can be healed, while future transgressions may be halted.

Most of the rest of the world has made progress toward equality between genders, and I can't speak for anywhere but America, but America does have some way to go, particularly in rural parts of the country.
