....to such an extent that only yet another disease and more starvation would ensue?

Marcus, hate to clue you in but there has been NO population explosion in America. We just barely reach replacement population. The only "population explosion" that is happening in reality in America and the western world is IMMIGRANTS.--since they are the ones who are having way more children than western countries are. Some European countries have negative population replenishing, meaning not enough citizens to work and take care of the elderly, meaning also an nonself-sustainable country.

Kara:
being well fed certainly does not combat disease. Look at America and China. No I don't think mass population explosion is a good thing since they are already having problems combined already with overpopulation. Other highly populated countries have their fair share of problems. The key to good, sustained governments, plentiful food, biodiversity, and a clean planet of disease and garbage is population control, not mass population free for all without a care. How irresponsible.

Ok first lets not fool ourselves there IS a cure for hunger, It seems there is less intrest in the suffering of some than others! YES I think the population certainly would exlpode! Wouldnt' that be wonderful!!!! No i dont think it would cause more disease or starvation, the end to starvation would probably help combat disease.

come on! use common sense of course nutrition, less starvation, means fewer deaths, and less disease come on that's a NO BRAINER!!! It not that complicated!... IRRESPONSIBLE is doing nothing while people are starving, stupid is asking a question that you already think you have the answer to

I doubt it, hunger is a problem all over the world in the impoverished areas. And because those impoverished areas of Africa that you are speaking of are about the futhest thing from a welfare state the population in those areas will only increase marginally (aids doesn't seem to stop people from having sex). Much like the non-impoverished areas throughout the same region that don't seem to have population issues?

According to the Bible, there will always be poverty.
Aside from that, I heard of an experiment that suggests if overpopulation occurs, we will start fighting among ourselves until there is a return to balance.
An experiment was done with rats where all their physical needs were met (food, water, climate, etc.) They bred until they met a certain density and then started fighting. We see this happening in urban areas where even though there is adequate food and shelter, fights break out. It's our need for a certain amount of space, I guess.

Americas population has exploded because every idiot child thinks they can have as many as they want, what would be different elsewhere?
