Beta's are extremely easy to care for. The have lungs so they come up to the top of the bowl for air, eliminating the need for a bubbler. Just make sure they have clean water every couple of weeks and use a beta water treatment (very inexpensive) so they can live in it. Feed them once a day, and be sure not to put any other fish in with them. They like to fight! Also keep in mind not to put the poor little guy in the direct sunlight, like a window cuz the water will get too hot and kill them. You can even get kits to put plants in the water they like to hang out in the root growth, just try to keep it trimmed up once in a while so he can still swim around.

No. You can put them in a fish bowl with gravel. You need special beta food though. DO NOT PUT TWO FISH TOGETHER! The males and sometimes females are VERY aggressive. Betas sometimes fight to the death. They are mostly aggressive because that's how females choose a mate.

It's easier than other fish as they can take their air from the surface, and survive in a wide range of water condition. But keeping any fish takes a lot of time and effort. For example a betta in an unfiltered bowl will need his water changed weekly. He need to be fed at least every other day. You can read up on betta care at the below link.

No...among the easiest fish to care for. Its advisable to keep one by itself, though, as others have stated.
Also, I would recommend a tank instead of a bowl. Any size would do. If you do not have a tank, at least provide an air line into the bowl.

no not really. just keep it fed and make sure to keep it away from other aggresive fish and you should be fine. change the water frequently depending on your bowl and be sure to test the water for ph balance. also make sure the water is at room temperature when placing your betta in it's original tank. what i like to do is fill a bowl of water prior to the day her 'home' needs cleaning then net her and swap bowls. this way she wont stress as much when she's adjusting to her new environment. betta's are really exotic looking which is why i love having them. plus they are real easy to look after...unlike my hamsters :p good luck!

don't put two in a bowl. don't put a mirror up to the side or put thm near a mirror either. they are very aggresive fish and will go into a fighting position and ram into the side of the bowl and if they do it hard enough they will kill themselves. They are VERY easy to take care of though!

I know a lot of people say to keep bettas in a small bowl, that they don't need a filter, heater, etc, but that's not true. The reason why most bettas are "boring" is because they don't have enough room to swim. They *should* have around a 5 gallon tank to swim around in, and they *do* need a filter. Please, don't keep a betta in a small bowl!

They're easy to care for, but they should be treated like any other tropical fish. A filtered, heated (78-80F) aquarium is best. They can survive in bowls, but it's *just* surviving.

Actually they are among the easiest to take care of. But do not put two together in the same bowl.
They will fight to each others death, if together.
How do they mate? Through artificial insemination.
