There shouldn't be a problem with it. The important thing is that the relationship is balanced and there is open communication about who has what responsibilities.

I believe this is the way that many families are starting to go. To be honest, I can only agree with it if the woman's job is bringing home more money than the man's, and if it's steady enough and a large enough amount for them to be comfortable with it. BUT... and this is a huge but... in most cases women are far better at raising children, and men do have an almost natural desire to be doing something outside of the home. I know some women, when they're forced to work because their husband's income isn't enough to keep them where they are, resent working because they miss out on watching their kids grow up, and many unemployed men (homeless or also just between jobs) don't feel like they're living up to all they can be. Not to say that being a homemaker isn't a fulltime job, because it most certainly IS, it just isn't what we men are best at.

I would think about it this way, which one earns more. If the wife earns more than the husband, it would be economically beneficial if the husbands stays home.
My aunt earns significantly more than her husband. When they had a child, the husband became homemaker.
But if both cannot earn enough to support little junior, then both should work and send junior to day care.
South American women that work as housekeepers here in the US have their husbands as the main parent in their home country. A lot of people think that foreign domestic workers have limited education, but many of them actually have degrees. It is just unfortunate that they cannot earn enough to support their families. In these cases, the mother is the breadwinner and the father is the main parent.
Or a modern couple could work on their careers until they are in their 40s, retire, live on their savings and have a child. It is possible to have both parents raise a child, it just requires a lot sacrifice early in life.

I think it's great as long as the father is the nuturing type and the mothers income can support the family comfortably. I think it is important to have 1 parent stay home with the kids. I know this is not always possible but if it is I think it's the best.

I think it's alright. In some cases (rare cases) the woman makes more, so it only makes sense to have the man stay home. As long as he can handle the kids and housework without losing his mind, I'm all for it!

For a time my ex didn't work and I did. He was waiting at the door for me every night with a cold beer, and a hot bath ready for me. He did laundry better than me and any other woman I have ever known. He cleaned right smart too. The only thing I did was cook, it was so nice.

sometimes you have to do it, but as a general rule, it's not the natural way to go. Women are better at raising children; men are better at making money.

Against the grain, but what does it matter what we think, if you are comfortable with your wife bring home that bacon, go for it. I personally don't like the idea, but that is just me and what do I know.
