Currently my husband and I live in a decent 2 bedroom apt w/ heat and hot water inc. We have some noisy neighbors and no yard, but the rent is affordable. And, the apt. nice We were offered a 4 bedroom house by a family friend for the same rent w/o heat hot water inc. We would also have to cut the grass and the house is a little older, we have moved a lot in the last 5 years, but my husand says it's a deal of a lifetime, what do think we should do?
We should be able to swing the heat and h/water

As long as you keep in mind that this home will cost more to heat/cool as it sounds ALOT larger. In addition consider the cost of more lightbulbs, furnishings, more cleaning solutions, more time cleaning and doing yardwork. You do not want to live in a larger house with no furniture. This may initially be a large expense but pay off IF your really would like more rooms. BUT if you are only thinking of moving because it's a GREAT deal, then think of it as a GREAT deal for a family who really needs it. A great house at a great price. Sounds like you two are happy in your LOW maintenance apartment and enjoy the extra money every month!

Don't take it. Since it's an old house you'll probably be making alot of repairs. People don't put houses for the same as apt unless there is something wrong with it. And having to pay heat and hot water to not having to pay at all. Well seems like you'll be forking out more money. Find somewhere nice. Not some shabby house just for the extra rooms

We moved into a house 2 years ago that basically just had 4 walls and a roof.
There was no kitchen, double glazing, central heating, carpets, bathroom absolutely nothing.
We have done alot of work in the 2 years we have been here and although its not fully completed,we love living here.
Our garden is quite big so my dog is very happy,he doesnt like other dogs so he doesnt go out but he has a big garden to run around and hes happy with that.
If you can see past what needs doing to the house and feel like you could live there then why not go for it!
Its more space and probably have a gargen to sit in in the summer.

take it. as long as you realize that this is a family friend you are renting from so you must be careful to make payment early and get a good understanding of the leasing terms.

I probably will not move, i prefer doing something else than mowing or doing house repairs to a house that doesn't belong to me.

Depends. Where will you both be happier. And are there children in your family? If you could use the extra room, I would do it. Good luck!

Set your own priorities. What is important to you? And, if money is an issue, how much "sweat equity" are you both willing to invest in your home?
