Whats more powerfull cyclops's optic blasts or superman's heat vision?

Superman's heat vision.

It is actually his most powerful weapon (See "Many Happy Returns" where Supergirl blasts some bad guy, and he makes that statement)

Also Superman levels part of Metropolis w/ a Nova hot blast of heat vision a couple of years ago while fighting BlackRock (It's at the beginning of the 'Sacrifice' story-arc)

Finally, in Marvel vs DC (c. 1996), Superman's heat vision stuns the Hulk when they fight. Cyclops wouldn't fare that well.

I think technically cyclops' optic blasts are more powerful in the sense of concentration of energy, but I'd rather have superman's heat vision. He can turn it on and off at will, and I get the sense that he can somehow moderate the power. Even if it is less powerful overall, it's a better design.

Its not really a fair question. Although Cyclops can simulate lasing by narrowing the intensity of his optic blast (and he can control the intensity and arc with his visor) his optic blast is actually force, not heat. It impacts against and object and doesn't really melt it, although there is measurable temperature, but the heat is a side effect and not the primary damage inducer.

Superman's heat vision is a true laser.

Cyclops could cause more widespread damage, but Superman can cut hotter, longer, and with potentially more deadly effect.

I'll go with heat vision.
As the inenstiy of the heat vision always seem to be more intense in its damage.

whereas Cyclop's blast always seem more like engery blast than a destructive laser or heat beam.


Besides that fact that superman can control his, makes it much more effective and precise....thus more useful.

I HATE to say this, but Cyclops' optic blast is probably more powerful. As much as I love SUPERMAN, and he would definitely win in a fight, the optic blast is Cyclops' main weapon, so it would naturally be more concentrated.

Vinny X is right.Cyclops blast are more powerful and energized.But Superman's heat vision can burn metal and Cyclops can't!

As far as power Cyclops has more energy but Supermans is hotter. Different type of energy release. But cyclops still can't hurt superman.

they both get the energy to do the things they do from the sun, cyclops uses all that energy in one power, whereas superman has to spread that energy throughout all his powers.

They exist in different universes. If they were a part of the same universe, I'd still say Superman.
