Use a cream to control shine or oil. Neutrogena use to have one, and Proactiv too. There's one by Clinique called Pore Refiner, or Pore Minimizer, something like that. You apply the creme before applying the foundation and it controls the shine allowing your makeup to last longer.

The kind of foundation that you wear is important in its durability. If you are oily like me, I bet you have gone through a lot of foundations and none stayed on the whole day. The best one that I found in the market is Prescriptives Flawless foundation. It gives a great coverage and lasts all day. Colorstay from Revlon provides great coverage as well, but it is hard to remove. So I do not recommend it.

For it to look good throughout the day? Use a good moisturizer before applying foundation and then set with a loose powder.

First, make sure that you cleanse your face really well and moisturize before applying anything. If you use a liquid foundation, try finishing your face by dusting a little bit of loose powder over top.

Use a foundation primer and set your foundation with a matching powder.

Make sure you're not putting it on too thick, it tends to melt off when you do this! Also, get a good powder to wear over it. NEVER use the puff that the powder comes with! It tends to put it on too thick and you can look over made! Buy a good brush to apply your powder. (AVON personal match loose or pressed powder is great!)

Another tip: put your foundation on your lids too and then put the powder over it and your eye make up over that...it'll make your eye make up stay put!!!

Your question is kind of out there but use a natural foundation so you dont ruin your skin.

Wet your sponge before you apply it on the foundation and onto your face. It really works:)
